Hello/Goodbye/Hello

Hey wonderful readers! I can finally say "goodbye" to Little Somethings by Little Lo Hood and "hello" to Marigold Made. I haven't yet had a chance to blog on the new blog but that is where I will be from here on out. A big thanks to Savannah of Maiedae for creating my new blogging home. My blog has come a long way but I hope with the new blog I can focus much more on DIY's.

Lavender Sachets

Hi! Just wanted to pop in to tell you what I made for Mother's Day. I used some leftover fabric which I cut into 4x4 squares, sewed 3 sides, placed the lavender rose water mix inside, then sewed up the remaining side, then cut around the edge with zig zag scissors. These are really great ideas for a quick gift and will help you use up that stash of scrap fabric too.

Thanks for stopping in!

//Thank You//

As such wonderful readers I wanted to share with you a very simple thank you note that I created. I used a ribbon label that I downloaded free from Pugly Pixel here.  You can get a direct link to this card by clicking here

I took a screenshot for you above so it isn't quite as clear as the actual. I had to toy with the printing options as I'm not a pro at photoshop or special settings but it took me no time and then I put my card stock back in again to give myself two cards on an 8.5x11. Then what I did was punch a hole in the bottom of the card after I had folded it and tied a piece of string in a small bow (to close it). It ended up very sweet and simple. Remember, since I created this from tools from another source, use this for personal use only. I'm also very happy to be doing a giveaway over at The Lovely Hunter. Check it out if you'd like to win one of my necklaces.

Thanks for saying hello!

//A Sailor's Life for Me//

Another photo from my harbor shots.
I've been running a little lately.
Today I went on a long run in the light rain down by the beach.
I listened to M83 radio and it was fantastic.

Thanks for saying hello!

//Take a rest//

Just another photo I took on our trip down to the harbor. Just thinking about a wayward sea bird taking shelter in this birdhouse makes me feel peaceful.

//SUNDAY//

On Sunday, my boyfriend and I went down by the beach in the middle of a huge rain storm. He brought his Canon 7d and our super fat lens toy cameras. I will need to show you the film once I'm done with the roll. It was really fun hanging out at the beach with no one else around just exploring. I found a butterfly tucked between two rocks trying to escape from the pounding rain, which flopped itself on its back seemingly to protect itself. A truly beautiful sunday.

Thanks for saying hello!

DIY: Modern Triangle Table

I've been envying these photos for sometime now on poppytalk. I recently decided to make my own table but I did it a bit differently, still looking for the perfect thrifted wooden tray though.

//BEFORE//
If you decide to do this make sure you sand your surface then clean it of any grit before painting. I painted the entire surface in a white gloss ultra cover premium latex paint from Rust-oleum.
Then I used blue painters tape to tape off triangles.

Then I painted in each triangle different shades of grey and black.
 Then I went over the table with a polycrylic to finish it.
//AFTER//

I've been busier more than ever lately. I recently had my Graduate school interview and got a second job as a paraprofessional at a school. I've just been trying to get used to the new schedule. I also have some exciting news coming to the blog in a little while.

Thanks so much for stopping in!

Quick & Easy DIY: Necklace Display

 I was in desperate need of a necklace display for my Printed Peaks necklaces. I already had two circular wooden plaques that I had used but painted over in white. You can pick those up at any craft store, I got mine at Michael's. You need: - two cup hooks 1-1/2"(found at Home Depot) - two painted wooden plaques - an exacto knife - washi tape
I merely taped in strips fairly close together. It actually looks like you did a great job at painting stripes. You could even do a bit of a gingham look if you desired as well. This is super easy and helps you keep your necklaces from being tangled.

Have a wonderful weekend!

//By the Beach//

I went for a run down by the beach last week and the fog was incredibly thick. I walked along the shore and explored a bit.  The simplicity of hearing the waves hit the beach and finding obscure objects and wondering their origin left me feeling so weightless and carefree.

DIY Leather Wallet

I made this little wallet because I just absolutely love leather and have a bit left over from other projects.
To make this leather wallet you will need:
-2 colors of leather
-an exacto knife
-sewing machin
-scissors
Cut two pieces of leather, one larger piece in one color (brown) and one smaller piece (white)
Sew the smaller piece right sides together as shown.
Turn inside out and you already basically have a little pouch
Cut out a heart
Sew right side of heart to inside of your pouch
Be careful when cutting out your heart, pinch the leather (brown) in order to cut away from leather underneath. Use your exacto knife to get close enough to the edge of your seam.
Cut out a hole on the top flap and on the inside to attach your leather handle
Enjoy your sweet new leather wallet!

Thanks for stopping in!
Happy weekend!
